Submerged Arc Welder Power Source Variants

A WelderData model-family reference for SAW systems that use different welding power sources behind the tractor, wire-feed controller and arc-voltage feedback loop.

Database summary

Submerged arc welding systems are not repaired as a single box. The welding tractor, wire feeder, control pendant and welding power source can be paired in several ways. A MZ-type tractor may be connected to a thyristor DC source, a ZX5-style source, a ZXC constant-voltage source, a magnetic-amplifier source or a digital-control welding source.

WelderData treats these as power-source variants. The first repair decision is whether the fault follows the tractor/controller interface or remains inside the welding power source. No wire movement, failed retract arc-starting and no output should not be mixed into one diagnosis until the command line, source enable, feedback signal and welding output evidence are separated.
