Model Family
MZ Submerged Arc Welders
A WelderData model-family hub for MZ submerged arc welders, automatic SAW travel control, wire-feed control, arc-voltage feedback and start/stop repair workflows.
Overview
MZ submerged arc welders are industrial automatic welding platforms. WelderData separates this family from compact ZX7 inverter welders because the repair logic includes travel carriage motion, wire-feed motor direction, arc-voltage feedback, relay sequencing and thyristor speed-control stages.
Current MZ records
Typical internal architecture
MZ / ZD5 thyristor power-source references
The submerged arc section now includes MZ / ZD5 power-source records for double-star thyristor rectification, synchronization, phase-shift trigger control, current feedback, overcurrent protection and process-mode routing.
Submerged arc power-source variants
WelderData now separates MZ tractor/controller behavior from the welding power-source variant behind it. ZXC, ZX5, thyristor, magnetic-amplifier and digital-control sources should be routed by source-enable, feedback and output evidence before replacing tractor boards.
MZ / MU / MZD / MZN model-family variants
The MZ family should not be treated as a single machine. Repair records may mention MZ-1000, MZ1-1000, MZ2-1500, MU2-1000, MZD8 or MZN8 variants. Use the model-family variant page to decide whether the symptom belongs to the source, tractor, wire-feed or feedback layer.
