Digital ZX7 reference
ZX7-IV Digital Stick/TIG Welder Repair Reference
A digital ZX7 repair reference for panel logic, low open-circuit voltage, smart fan behavior, TIG settings and control-board evidence.
ZX7-IV vs older ZX7 platforms
ZX7-IV adds digital parameter logic, low idle OCV, smart fan behavior, Hall current sensing, SSR-related functions and extra TIG timing parameters. A fan that does not run immediately after power-up can be normal behavior, not automatically a fan fault.
ZX7-IV service clues
| Symptom | First evidence layer | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Welding current cannot adjust | encoder, Hall sensor, control panel, main board | Also check IGBT open, driver board, 20040 module and commutation inductor if output evidence is abnormal. |
| TIG no HF / no TIG operation | torch switch, remote line, HF board, high-leakage transformer, 20040, main board | Do not mix MMA output success with TIG start-path success. |
| Protection 804 | thermal relay, duty cycle, fan, control board | Allow fan-cooled idle recovery, then verify fan and thermal wiring. |
| Fan does not run at power-up | smart fan logic before hardware fault | ZX7-IV fan may start only during welding and stop after delay. |
| Arc difficult to start | hot-start time, knee voltage, low input voltage, cable length, Hall feedback | Digital parameter state matters as much as power-stage health. |
